Computers

At A&J Computers we can build any type of PC that you would like.
You choose the components from our list, or if there's something you'd prefer,
let us know & we'll give you a price.

Buying a PC in this manner means you get a PC that will do the job you want it to do,
and you're not stuck with having to buy a package where half of it is unnecessary.

Why not e-mail us, telling us what you want to use the PC for, then we'll get back to you
with our minimum recommended PC specification, together with any other options,
then you can make a choice.

Before making your choice of PC.........

we will attempt to assist you in understanding exactly what you are buying.

A PC can be built in many different ways. A PC can be built with initial purchase cost in mind, which is great if you want to save money now, or can be built to save money in the future regarding upgradability or repair. A PC is a collection of many small parts. It's the parts that go in to a PC that dictate how well and fast it will run. Not all PC's are the same. Even two Machines with the same speed CPU can run at different speeds.

Simply put, a PC is built on a Mainboard, or Motherboard. Into this go your

  • Graphics Card - to enable you to see what goes to the screen.
  • Sound Card - so you can hear all the wonderful sounds your PC can produce.
  • Modem - that you can send & recieve faxes, connect to the Internet etc.
  • any other extras you choose to have.

If your Mainboard has these items built into it, it will initially produce a cheaper PC. If you want to change the graphics card to a better one in the future, it may proove if not difficult, impossible. If you want to put in a better Sound card, the same will apply. Likewise a better Modem.

What happens if the day after your warranty expires, your graphics card dies on your mainboard. You'll have to change the whole mainboard, at much greater expense than just changing a seperate card.

Other things to consider.....

  • I'm going to have a 3 year warranty on my monitor. It might be a good idea to get the right size rightaway, otherwise when I decide to change, i'll have to sell the old one & lose money.
  • A DVD-RW Drive sounds great. I've seen it in all the Adverts, but do I really need one if all I'm doing is word processing? It might be better to spend that money on making another part of my PC better for what I'm really going to use it for.
  • Really how big is an 2000Gb Hard drive? If I had the choice, would I buy a 10 million page notepad when I know I wouldn't fill it for 10 years?

With all these things in mind, call us now so we can direct you to two types of PC's. One type will be built with initial purchase cost in mind, the second will be a better quality PC. Please think carefully before choosing your PC as once you've bought one, you should never need to buy another.....simply keep upgrading to make your PC fit your growing needs.

Please feel free to call for comparative PC prices. Remember, let us know what you would like & we will supply you with a price.
